Making of False Beleaf: Stop-motion 3D printed short film

A short stop motion animation film made with 3D printed an hand made objects and characters.
This was my thesis project I was in group with 3 of my colleagues. My main roles were Director of the film, Storyboardist and Animator.
The Pre-production part was from February 2020 till march 2021 . We were in different cities and countries due to the pandemic so the story storyboard and the modelling of the objects and the main character we made working online using platforms like Discord to stay in touch all the time.

During the production we changed some scenes to work round technical difficulties and reinforce the message that the plant represents every person with low self-esteem who ruins his/her life to become or be part of the "fake" society .

3D printing
Printer > Prusa I3 MK3S+

The biggest 3D printed model was the truck
First we modelled the objects in Maya
Then one of my colleagues prepared them for the printing Using programs like Meshmixer and PrusaSlicer
The last step was to paint and assemble the parts
Set rendering

I constructed the set in my room it was made from wardrobe drawers and shoe boxes
ENVIRONMENT
We made a cardboard version to decide the dimensions

Inspiration > The Willoughbys
We wanted more cozy and joyful atmosphere so we changed the look completely
